The Naperville Warriors began their 2016 campaign in exciting fashion by posting a 37-24 win against the visiting Barbarians of Palatine. The hard hitting contest was well attended despite the below freezing temperatures at kickoff.
Starting eight man and co-captain Tom Rizzi got the home team off to a quick start by posting two tries in the first ten minutes of the match, and Naperville never looked back. The Warriors led 25-5 at the half, but the veteran Barbarian side fought back with two quick dot downs to begin the second act, capitalizing on more than a few forced penalties with several well executed backline plays. The Warriors recovered from the onslaught and scored twice more before the final whistle to secure the win.
The Warriors look to continue their winning ways at Montini Catholic next Tuesday in a quick turnaround for their first away match. 7:00p kickoff. Hope to see you there!
